Dinner at Kome

Some great moments at Kome

We stopped at Kome for a night away from holiday foods like turkey and ham. It was perfect after a Christmas feast and dining on leftovers. My husband and I ordered edamame, gyoza (pork dumplings), chicken kara-age, tsukiji carpaccio, the summertime roll, the love for sale roll and the grilled escolar with edamame puree. The best bite came from the grilled escolar. This is the third time we've visited Kome and every time the fish is a stand-out. It was flaky, sweet and wholesome. The grill is done perfectly and the puree is a perfect compliment to the fish. The rolls were also excellent. My favorite was the summertime roll. It comes with shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, sesame seeds and go-go sauce. It's packed full of flavor. The chicken kara-age was also dynamite. And the gyoza was cooked perfectly. The only disappointment was the sashimi. It was fairly bland and even though it was dressed with a sauce and carried some extra garnishes it just didn't make a mark. This is the third time we've had disappointing sashimi at Kome. Going forward, we plan to stick with what they do best. Rolls and Escolar! It's definitely worth returning for those dishes.
